Nineteen seventy-five was a year that saw great social change and innovations in technology that would forever change the way that the world does everything. The first microcomputer was released sparking the modern era of computers and information processing. The Viking 1 mission sent a spacecraft into the depths of the universe to explore the distant planet of Mars. From the Jura Mountains of Switzerland, in a town known for its creativity and beauty, Maurice Lacroix swiss watches were came alive.
In all of our history, humankind has always had a desire to improve on everything we do. It started off with a how and a why, and has continued on to how it can be done better. This desire is what makes our technology and modernization what it is today.
Pursuing goals of space travel or computers would not have been possible without first learning Agriculture. It is agriculture that allowed people to not have to worry so much about survival. It made food more readily available. Hunting took up a lot of time in the past. With the knowledge of ranching, animals did not have to be tracked down across great distances.
With this time, food was improved through spices and herbs. Clothing was improved by using dyes made from berries. Drawings and sculptures were made as a craft, and not out of necessity. Just by fulfilling the basic needs of life have they were able to focus on things like the arts and education. As time went on and science improved, the ability to travel into our galaxy became possible. Even more technology has been gained with what we have found in space and the journey to get there.
The thought of the times is reflected in the arts. Society is also moved by the progress of the sciences. Both science and art comprise the works of the professional craftsman. It is the craftsman’s duty to produce quality and keep that tradition of fine work. This is why it has always been difficult to determine whether a craftsman follows science or is an artist. There is almost no distinction between those in the profession.
History has always been told from one generation to the next. It is told in stories and in deeds. This handing down of the past to future makes links to our past possible. The objects that we hold dear in our lives are often handed to the next generation. The tradition of family is woven into the fabric of all people.
Watches are one of the first pieces of technology that were made portable. The ability to carry time with us would not be possible without science, and the belief that time was important enough to be made portable. Everyone that owns and wears a wrist watch is linked to the past because of this, and reminded that the future awaits us all.
Science and art has made Maurice Lacroix ladies watch a part of history. Watch making has such a rich history of design and craftsmanship. It represents all of what humanity is working towards. Even with more advances in computers and technology, nothing will compare with the mechanical feats of a hand crafted men’s watch.
